Maine & Chir
Our story is the one filled with adventures and wonderful memories. We journeyed together for ten beautiful years, and we’ll do that once more, finally as one.
Like they have known each other for a long time…
Two perfect strangers, Maine and Chir, met in 2013 during a class they shared in their Uni days. Locking with each other’s eyes. Peeking into each other’s seats to see if they were there. It all started so beautifully, like a Nicholas Sparks novel with a story meant to be told.
They got closer when they became group mates, Maine taking on coordinating with the rest of the team, of which Chir is a part. They started exchanging messages as if they had known each other for a long time.
The First Date
Maine and Chir’s first date is another story. Like most of us, they, too, felt the first date jitters. But as authentic as they are, their first date was in a Starbucks. Maine knew then that Chir was the one when he ordered her favourite drink — A Signature Hot Chocolate with Two Shots of Espresso.
And so their adventures began in that afternoon. No frills, no anything, just as they are.
The Beginning
Maine and Chir dated for 5 months before Chir mustered the courage to ask Maine to be his girlfriend. It was unconventional and cute.
December 31st, 2013, at midnight, during a New Year’s get-together with friends on the balcony of Maine’s house. Chir asked, “Will you be my girlfriend?” with a paper ring, to which Chir said, “Next time, it will be a real diamond ring.”
Of course, Maine said yes.
Spontaneity and Adventures
Through their ten years together, Maine and Chir’s relationship was filled with spontaneity and adventures, always on the move and always travelling to cities across the Globe. There was never a dull moment with these two. They don’t plan itineraries. Instead, they let the moment surprise them. And these little big moments are always shared between the two of them, memories that they get to share.

Leading up to the proposal
In the summer of 2023, they are on their penultimate European trip. Chir planned his proposal discreetly to make Maine’s dream of having a proposal in the City of Lights in Paris come true.
Maine and Chir always valued being in the moment, making no grand gestures and not making a spectacle out of them. Chir knew the proposal should be done privately, away from the public’s eyes so that they could share the moment.
The first leg of our most memorable summer. We saw a future together in London and the time when we’d been apart for so long. London was an obvious choice for a proposal.

The Beautiful Private Proposal
In a secret spot in the 16th arrondissement with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower, Chir took Maine to the spot she had been searching for after visiting Paris repeatedly. When Maine saw the place, she was elated. Excited to take photos for her Insta. Little did Maine know it was the moment she had been waiting for. With no people in sight, right by the steps of the beautiful gothic stairs, Chir asked Maine, “Before we go, I’d like to ask you one more thing.” Before Chir popped the question, Maine saw the beautiful ring glisten in summer sunlight. To which Maine responded,
“I thought this wouldn’t happen.”
“Will you marry me?”
“It’s been so long. It’s a yes, always been a yes.”
